ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Trainer II

An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Trainer II is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of ERP training programs and play a key role in driving user adoption and organizational readiness in a hybrid, on-premise, and Cloud/SaaS application environment.

Responsibilities include designing and developing comprehensive, role-based training curricula aligned with business processes, policy, and system functionality; creating and delivering blended learning solutions, including Instructor-led training (ILT/VILT), eLearning modules (iLearn/iSpring or similar tools), and job aids and performance support materials; leading training efforts associated with system implementations, upgrades, and ongoing release cycles; partnering with subject matter experts (SME), technical teams, and vendors to ensure accuracy, usability, and relevance of training content; managing and optimizing the Learning Management System (LMS), including course deployment, tracking, and reporting; managing and optimizing the Learning Management System (LMS); establishing and maintaining a centralized, scalable training repository and governance model; supporting ERP governance activities including facilitation, communication, and change enablement; coaching and mentoring the ERP Trainer I class; and contributing to the development of a long-term ERP training and adoption strategy. The ERP Trainer II operates with a high degree of independence and is expected to serve as a subject matter expert in both instructional design and ERP training delivery. This class performs related duties as required.

Financial Systems Assignment: This assignment has specific responsibilities related to supporting the Financial System which includes all financial modules (example: general ledger, accounts payable, project/grant/cost accounting, etc.) and performance budgeting.

Human Resources, Payroll, and Timekeeping Assignment: This assignment supports the Human Resources system including Personnel, Benefits, Safety Services, Payroll, Employee Self-Service, and Recruiting. Additionally, this position has responsibility to support training activities related to timekeeping, which includes supporting large scale training efforts, assisting functional staff with delivering training, and/or developing training materials, etc.


Procurement Assignment:This assignment is responsible for supporting the procurement system which includes purchasing, solicitation, evaluation, award, contract procurements, and vendor self-service. Additionally, this assignment specifically works with subject matter experts to assure that training materials and communications are consistent with City policies, and to foster increased efficiencies across the user community.


The ERP Trainer II duties include thedesign and development of the ERP training course content and materials, the delivery of training, and coaching and mentoring the ERP Trainer I class. The ERP Trainer II and Trainer I may be designated as the primary support for one or more of the functional areas but are responsible for cross-training in each of the areas as their primary assignments may change. The ERP Trainer II and Trainer I classes both report to the ERP Program Manager. An employee in this class functions with minimal day-to-day supervision, and work results are reviewed for accuracy, thoroughness, reasonableness, and completion in a timely manner. This class is FLSA exempt-professional.

Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and work experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a closely related field. Five years of progressively responsible experience supporting or maintaining enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in one or more functional areas such as finance, budgeting, payroll, human resources, procurement, or timekeeping, including assisting end users with troubleshooting and resolving system issues, participating in system testing and validation activities, and developing or delivering training and/or documentation related to ERP business processes.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications.Experience supporting or delivering training using a Learning Management System (LMS) such as iLearn/iSpring, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, or similar; familiarity with eLearning development, microlearning, and digital content creation; ability to translate technical system functionality into clear, user-friendly learning content; experience supporting system updates, enhancements, or upgrades in an ERP environment; strong communication and presentation skills across in-person and virtual environments; exposure to organizational change, user adoption, or training rollout initiatives; familiarity with ERP systems such as CGI Advantage, Kronos/UKG, Workday, Oracle, or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Office; and familiarity with collaboration tools such as SharePoint or similar platforms.
