Equipment Operator I - Pavement OperationsThe City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome Equipment Operator I's to the pavement operations team! As an Equipment Operator you will perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks for the City's Public Works Department. You will operate a variety of equipment to include asphalt pavers, milling machines, rollers, loaders, back-hoes, skid steers, pothole trucks and compaction equipment to repair and maintain streets and alleys.

As an Equipment Operator I, you will:- Operate single/tandem axle dump trucks, plows, and sanders during snow removal.
- Transport materials and equipment to/from work sites.
- Safely use, service, and make minor repairs to tools and equipment.
- Perform manual labor such as shoveling, debris removal, and site clean-up.
- Assist other Public Works teams as business needs require.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain accurate work records.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:- Knowledge of the basic operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment
- Knowledge of practices, methods, and materials used in general construction
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods
- High school diploma or GED
- One year ofprofessional, full-time experience in general construction, manual labor or a related field
- Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions
- Possess, or obtain within one year of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license which is not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
