We are seeking a Senior Epic Project Manager to support an enterprise-wide Epic Refuel initiative with a primary focus on Epic Security and Identity Access Management (IAM).
This role will partner with executive leadership, Epic application teams, and security stakeholders to standardize and modernize Epic security structures as part of a broader transition back to Epic Foundation.
The Project Manager will drive planning, execution, governance, and change management across all security-related workstreams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and Epic best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Project Leadership
- Lead Epic Security workstream within a large-scale Epic Refuel program
- Drive project plans, milestones, dependencies, and overall delivery timeline across security initiatives
- Coordinate across multiple teams including Epic analysts, IAM, compliance, and infrastructure
- Track risks, issues, and mitigation plans; escalate as needed
Epic Security & IAM Oversight
- Oversee initiatives related to:
- EMP and SER master file standardization and cleanup
- Role-based access and security class redesign
- Shared security and access governance improvements
- Partner with teams supporting SailPoint IAM and ServiceNow-based access workflows
- Ensure security build, testing, and deployment align with refuel timelines
Refuel Planning & Execution
- Support development of an integrated master schedule and scope for security deliverables
- Coordinate sequencing of build, testing, training, and go-live activities
- Align with Epic resources and ensure readiness for build milestones
Organizational Change Management (OCM)
- Drive adoption of standardized Epic security practices across departments
- Partner with clinical and operational leaders to ensure alignment and accountability
- Support communication planning, training strategies, and user adoption tracking
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain governance structures for Epic Security within the refuel program
- Lead stakeholder meetings and provide executive-level updates
- Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with:
- Epic application teams (clinical, revenue cycle, etc.)
- IT security and compliance teams
- Infrastructure and integration teams
- Ensure security dependencies are aligned across all Epic modules
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Project Management experience in healthcare IT
- 4+ years supporting Epic projects (implementation, optimization, refuel, or upgrade)
- Strong understanding of Epic Security, including:
- EMP and SER master files
- Role-based access and security classes
- Shared security concepts
- Experience working with IAM tools (e.g., SailPoint) and access workflows (ServiceNow preferred)
- Proven experience leading large, enterprise-wide initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Experience with organizational change management and governance frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Security Certification
- Prior experience supporting an Epic Refuel or Foundation optimization initiative
- Experience in large health systems (multi-entity / enterprise environment)
- Familiarity with automation of security roles and access provisioning
- PMP or equivalent certification
