This position supports the Bureau of Air Quality by coordinating regulatory activities, managing financial and support systems, and working with local and regional partners. Within this fulfilling role, you will have the opportunity to assist the Bureau Director and help guide program consistency, compliance, and planning across the Commonwealth. As an Environmental Program Manager, you will perform the following duties:


  • Program Coordination:Work with regional air programs and local agencies to ensure consistency and compliance with requirements
  • Interagency Collaboration:Communicate with federal, state, and local partners on applicable laws, regulations, and program needs
  • Grant Oversight:Review progress on Section 103 and 105 commitments and coordinate related reporting
  • Budget Management:Manage the bureau budget, oversee purchasing, and monitor Clean Air Fund expenditures
  • Training Leadership:Guide development of training plans and represent the bureau on regional and national training committees
  • Document Review:Oversee the creation of briefing materials, standard operation procedures (SOP) training, and program documents for senior management

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as an Environmental Group Manager (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Seven years of professional environmental protection experience that includes two years of technical supervisory experience and a bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience in environmental protection that includes two years of technical supervisory experience.
