- Recommends corrections and issues compliance orders to address deficiencies and violations in regulated facilities.
- Providing general and technical information and advice to the public to answer questions and solve problems.
- May conduct technical reviews of blueprints, floor plans, and facility plans for compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assisting in coordinating environmental health activities with federal, state, and local governmental agencies.
- May participate in various committees and boards related to program activities and responsibilities.
- May provide supervision of volunteers, students and temporary staff.

- Demonstrate working knowledge and scope of the application of the laws, rules and regulations, ordinances and technical aspects of operations in the programs they are assigned to work in.

- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Identify, analyze and secure corrections of out of compliance situations in accordance with Department policies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.This position could hire as an Environmental Health Specialist I or II depending on qualifications.Environmental Health Specialist I- Bachelor's Degree with 30 hours coursework in basic and natural sciences, required. Basic sciences include life sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, or health sciences.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire, required.
Environmental Health Specialist II- Two (2) years as an Environmental Health Specialist I with Larimer County, or comparable experience, required.
- Bachelor's Degree with 30 hours coursework in basic and natural sciences, required. Basic sciences include life sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, or health sciences.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

Schedule:
The typical schedule for this position is 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday with occasional work on nights and weekends. Work may be needed at any of the Department's three offices in Fort Collins, Loveland, or Estes Park.During the initial six-month probationary period, the individual hired may telework up to one day per week, if business needs allow. After successfully completing the probationary period, the individual may telework up to two days per week, depending on business plans and operational needs.Please Note:The Department of Health and Environment has a vaccine requirement.
