Entry Level Survey Technician Temporary Hire

Why it's a great opportunity:In this summer work extra hire position with Pierce County, you will assist a two-person Survey Crew in the restoration, preservation and replacement of Survey Monuments located within the public right-of-way. Survey monuments are objects placed to mark key survey points and are used in geodetic and land surveying. This position is a great experience for you if you have an interest or are currently studying in the areas of survey, GIS, land use, and other environmental studies.

As a temporary hire, you will enjoy a regular schedule Monday – Friday. You can count on Pierce County to provide PPE, tools, and a safe place to work. You will work out of Tacoma to various places in Pierce County.

This position requires daily driving of a Pierce County vehicle therefore a SAFE driving record is a must.

Core daily responsibilities:

  • The ability to follow highly detailed written and verbal directions/instructions.
  • Read, understand, or learn engineering plans and specifications.
  • Be familiar with engineering standards and department policies.
  • Meet the travel requirements of the position.
  • Related work experience desirable.
  • Equivalent combination of education/experience which would clearly indicate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must possess a valid WA State Driver's License and safe driving record.
