Entry Level Process Engineer (Metals or Castings)

Salary: $70k-$95k


Education: A degree in Materials, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, is ideal. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not necessary.*


Experience: Three to five years of recent manufacturing experience is preferred, ideally including metals manufacturing, pattern rigging design, casting upgrade processes, and machining of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Familiarity with all aspects of foundry and upgrade operations, as well as associated processes, is ideal, along with strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to implement corrective actions and solutions.*


Skills: Must be able to read and interpret casting blueprints and further visualize how to design casting patterns and molds through spatial analysis. You must also understand shrink factors and feeding moduli when designing pattern rigging. Professional written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills, are required. This includes communicating effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Exceptional organizational skills to ensure precise instructions with related results.Ability to read and understand blueprints with some knowledge of SolidWorks modeling platforms and laser scanning.


Job Duty and Responsibility:


  1. Provide technical review, control, and documentation of all process parameters that affect end product quality.
  2. Design pattern rigging and formulate detailed shop travelers for specific casting pattern numbers.
  3. Evaluate, maintain, review, and update existing manufacturing systems and documentation.
  4. Effective implementation/use of the Quality Management System.
  5. Maintains and improves procedures, work instructions, forms, and tables.
  6. Assist in defect analysis with cause/corrective action to remedy such defects
  7. Develop solid models for the product and product materials.
  8. Conduct solidification simulations.
  9. Construct or modify product routing.
  10. Collaborate with other facilities to identify and address any casting-related issues and take corrective actions as necessary to mitigate these issues.
  11. Adheres to environmental and safety requirements.
  12. Aid in research/consulting/purchasing of new manufacturing technology.
  13. Provide advice to production operations as needed.
  14. Assist in ongoing efforts to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  15. Initiate and/or support various process improvement proposals.
  16. Quote raw castings, machining-only work, and services such as RT-only or heat treatment, but not limited to.
