Engineering Technician (Cleanroom | CWW Nights)

Location: Fairfield County, CT

Schedule: Compressed Work Week (CWW) – Nights

Pay Rate: $27.60/hour

Shift Differential: +15% Night Shift Premium + Daily OT (12-hour shifts)


Position Overview

We are hiring an Engineering Technician to support the build, test, and continuous improvement of complex mechanical and electrical systems in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with a strong foundation in assembly, testing, blueprint reading, and lean manufacturing, who is eager to grow into an engineering-focused career path within the semiconductor industry. You will play a critical role in production execution, quality improvement, launch of new products, and process optimization, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Build products in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
  • Identify, document, and report recurring assembly or functional issues.
  • Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to Kaizen, Lean, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support product and quality improvements through data-driven analysis and testing.

Production & Assembly

  • Assemble, integrate, and test highly complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Own the full build process from assembly through final testing.
  • Resolve technical issues that arise during manufacturing and test.
  • Serve as a technical reference point and set an example for other technicians.
  • Ensure tools, fixtures, materials, and equipment are used correctly and efficiently.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Actively participate in pilot builds and the transition to volume production.
  • Develop and improve technical product documentation (TPD), processes, and records.
  • Evaluate the production impact of new procedures prior to implementation.
  • Proactively recommend design or process improvements to enhance manufacturability.

Knowledge & Teamwork

  • Develop deep knowledge of products, sub-modules, and full system integration.
  • Understand system-level interactions and downstream impacts.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with peers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support departmental goals and timelines.

Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate daily activities according to the production plan.
  • Monitor workflow execution and adjust based on real-time production needs.
  • Maintain control of tools, materials, and cleanroom equipment.

Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)

  • Blueprint and schematic reading
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and analysis
  • Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement
  • Prototype builds and validation testing
  • Strong hand tool proficiency
  • Engineering or technical manufacturing background
  • Experience working in a high-quality, regulated manufacturing environment

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Cleanroom experience
  • Electronics and electrical troubleshooting
  • Use of test equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Inspection, repair, and rework
  • Strong computer and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, VSM)

Education

  • Diploma, Certification, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • (Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • Equivalent hands-on manufacturing or technical experience will be considered.
  • Manufacturing internship or co-op experience is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing training strongly preferred.

Work Environment

  • Cleanroom manufacturing environment
  • Standing, detailed assembly, and testing work
  • Strict adherence to safety, quality, and procedural standards

Training

  • Initial training will occur on 2nd or 3rd shift for approximately 4–6 weeks
  • After training completion, technicians will fully transition to the assigned CWW Night shift

Compressed Work Week (CWW) – Night Shift Schedule

  • All shifts are 12 hours: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM - Includes 15% night shift differential + daily overtime

      • Sunday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Tuesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    • Week 2
      • Sunday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Tuesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (every other Wednesday)
  • CWW Nights – N2 Shift
    • Week 1
      • Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Thursday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Friday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Saturday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    • Week 2
      • Thursday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Friday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Saturday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (every other Wednesday)
