Mary Baldwin University (MBU) is seeking a licensed, skilled, and dependable Facilities Electrician to support campus-wide operations. This role is responsible for electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across academic, residential, and administrative buildings. In addition to electrical expertise, this position plays a key role in supporting a cross-functional maintenance team, assisting with basic plumbing, HVAC systems, and general facilities operations as needed. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Inform and advise the Facilities Director on any electrical issues impacting campus operations
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, panels, circuits, and controls
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues across campus facilities
Establish and perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, safety standards, and university policies
Support emergency response for electrical outages or failures
Assist with basic plumbing repairs (fixtures, leaks, clogs, minor pipe work)
Support HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance (filters, belts, basic diagnostics)
Collaborate with other trades to complete work orders efficiently
Contribute to preventative maintenance efforts across all systems
Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate records of work performed
Support a culture of customer service, safety, and teamwork
Assist during campus events, weather response, or urgent operational needs
Minimum qualifications
3+ years of experience in electrical maintenance construction
Working knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in plumbing and/or HVAC systems
Experience in commercial, industrial, or campus environments
EPA certification (for HVAC support)
Experience with order systems or CMMS platforms
Ability to work independently across trades or collaborate in a team environment
