Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Engineering Tech to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon Shift will be 2PM-10PM. Training on day shift.

Anticipated Pay Range: $25.47 - $29 per hour.  *Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Technician supports all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Casting Department; including programming, equipment testing, operation, trouble shooting, and repair; he or she also maintains detailed reports of Process issues and applied solutions related to casting deviations and aborted casting cycles.

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Understand and assist manufacturing in compliance to all department activity instructions and job specific product criteria

  • Team with manufacturing to complete Casting Unit Set-up to assure compliance to requirements and specifications

  • Program castings units for specific critical variables such as alloy melting cycle and alloy pouring profile which will become automated for the purpose of eliminating Casting operator variation

  • Liaison between manufacturing, manufacturing leadership, and maintenance to make technical decisions to protect product quality

  • Identify equipment issues and follow systems to initiate repairs 

  • Compile and analyze data for Engineering regarding process deviations

  • Compile information for monthly process management

  • Team with Manufacturing to determine root cause and corrective action for all issues affecting casting deviations and aborted casting cycles

  • Assist Casting PO with developing Area Instructions and completing Training with manufacturing operators and supervision

  • Assist Casting PO with monitoring and completion of evaluations

  • Assist manufacturing in 5S efforts and initiatives

  • Adhere to regimented Daily Standard Work and complete daily report as communication tool for next shift

  • Coordinate the purchase and storage of critical spare parts for casting department

  • Coordinate the quotation and requisition of refurbishment for all casting melt coils, susceptor coils and cooling coils
