Overview
The Engineering Manager will provide hands-on leadership across engineering activities, supporting the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of mechanical, electrical, and systems-based equipment. This role works closely with field operations to enhance equipment performance, lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and ensure engineering standards are consistently applied.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP of Field Services, the Engineering Manager will have direct responsibility for the following:
Technical & Engineering Leadership:
- Support engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines.
- Perform and review equipment design and documentation using SolidWorks and related CAD/drawing software.
- Apply and maintain drawing software language, symbols, tolerancing, and revision control standards.
- Support BR&E (Build, Repair & Engineering) efforts, including equipment repairs, upgrades, and modifications.
- Assist with troubleshooting, technical evaluations, and design updates.
- Ensure designs and engineering work align with API, ASME, ISO, and internal company standards.
Operations & Field Support:
- Work closely with Field Services to support equipment performance and reliability.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment and electronic issues.
- Support commissioning, startup, and field modifications.
- Collaborate with HSE teams to ensure engineering practices are aligned with safety requirements.
People & Team Leadership:
- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
- Support task assignment, technical reviews, and workload prioritization.
- Promote consistent documentation, drawing quality, and engineering discipline.
- Assist in onboarding and training of new technical team members.
Project & Business Support:
- Support project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation activities.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Interface with internal stakeholders and customers on technical matters.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and change records.
Technology & Continuous Improvement:
- Support the use of automation, digital tools, IoT, and SCADA systems where applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, standardization, and field support.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
- 3-5 years of engineering experience in oil & gas, industrial equipment, or field operations.
- Some leadership experience (team lead, senior engineer, project lead, or similar) preferred.
- Working experience with SolidWorks and CAD-based drawing software.
- Familiarity with engineering drawing software language, symbols, and revision control.
- Exposure to or participation in BR&E (Build, Repair & Engineering) activities.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to remain hands-on.
- Ability to work in fast-paced operational environments.
- Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
