Job Description:The Engineering Manager leads all engineering personnel and activities from early customer engagement through new product introduction (NPI) and ongoing production support. This role requires a strong technical foundation in injection molding and precision machining, along with a solid understanding of Aerospace, Defense, Medical, and other advanced manufacturing quality standards.The Engineering Manager is accountable for engineering leadership, manufacturing process development, customer-facing technical support, and performance reporting. Success in this role means ensuring customer requirements, quality expectations, and financial objectives are consistently met while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.Essential ResponsibilitiesEngineering LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (manufacturing, process, project/NPI engineers, and technicians)Set clear expectations, performance goals, and development plansConduct performance reviews and support career growth and succession planningFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementCustomer Technical EngagementPartner with Sales to support new business development with technical expertiseServe as a primary technical liaison between customers and internal teamsParticipate in design reviews and advise on manufacturability, materials, cost, and process feasibilityResolve technical issues and maintain strong customer relationshipsCollaborative Design & ManufacturabilityReview customer designs for manufacturability, quality, functionality, and costApply DFM/DFA, value engineering, and APQP toolsCoordinate with customers and external design partners to align design intent with manufacturing capabilityProvide guidance on tooling, materials, and processing methodsQuoting & EstimatingPrepare hard and budgetary quotes for new products and toolingEnsure pricing accurately reflects true manufacturing costsCollaborate with Operations and Finance to align quoted assumptions with actual performanceNew Product Introduction (NPI)Lead engineering activities from concept through production launchPartner with Production to establish and optimize manufacturing processesOversee processing window studies, capability studies, and validation activitiesManage First Article Inspections (FAI) and pilot runsDevelop work instructions, control plans, and manufacturing documentationEnsure BOM accuracy and alignment with quoted and actual performanceManage project timelines and deliverables using CPM, Gantt charts, or similar toolsProcess Development & ImprovementDevelop and validate robust processes for molding, machining, and secondary operationsAnalyze data to improve capability, yield, and efficiencyLead root cause analysis and corrective action implementationChampion Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiativesSustaining EngineeringManage engineering changes including revisions, tooling updates, materials, and process modificationsMaintain configuration control and documentation accuracyUpdate BOM structures to reflect current production and cost requirementsSupport production teams in resolving ongoing technical challengesResearch & DevelopmentEvaluate new technologies, materials, and processes to support customer and business growthAssess automation opportunities and new equipment investmentsContribute to long‑term manufacturing strategy and technology roadmaps
