Engineering Technical Analyst III (Gas Distribution)
Location: Flint, MI (100% Onsite) (Local Candidates only)
Duration: Until April 2027 (with a possibility of extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Onsite (Potential OT During Peak Season)
Summary:
The Engineering Technical Analyst III will support gas distribution replacement and construction projects by working closely with Operations, Construction, and Engineering teams. This role is responsible for collecting as-installed gas asset information using GPS/GIS technologies, verifying field conditions, documenting construction changes, supporting utility locating activities, and ensuring accurate records development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify gas asset data using GPS antennas and GIS applications.
- Support large and small natural gas distribution construction projects.
- Perform utility locating and positional verification activities.
- Document field changes and as-built information during construction.
- Utilize GIS platforms including ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps.
- Coordinate with construction, operations, and engineering teams.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, field demonstrations, and project reviews.
- Travel to construction sites and project meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and revision control processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree + 3 years related experience, OR
- Associate Degree + 6 years related experience, OR
- High School Diploma + 10 years related experience.
Required Skills & Experience
- Utility locating experience.
- GIS/GPS data collection and mapping experience.
- Knowledge of natural gas distribution systems.
- Construction print reading and field construction support.
- Understanding of surveying control practices.
- Experience with locating equipment.
- Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
- ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps experience.
- Previous utility or gas distribution industry experience.
- Consumers Energy locating facilities certification (highly preferred).
Required Certifications/Training
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification (Required)
- MIOSHA Part 9 Compliance
- CPR / First Aid
- Excavation Safety / Ladder Safety
- Traffic Control Training

Must be comfortable carrying and using:
- GPS Antennas
- Ladders
- iPad / Laptop
- Rod Extensions
- Paint Marking Equipment
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Additional Information
- Must be able to work onsite 5 days per week.
- No per diem available.
- Candidates outside the area must relocate at their own expense and be available to start onsite on Day 1.
- Preferred local areas: Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland, MI.
- Overtime opportunities may be available during peak construction season
