Overview

This Engineer – IT Data Architect role is critical to designing, creating, and managing EB’s complex data architecture to ensure the data is secure, scalable, and readily accessible for business use and decision-making. This role will establish the strategy for an organization’s high-level data systems and frameworks. Success in the role will require working closely with engineers, analysts, and business leaders to align data solutions with strategic goals. The Engineer – IT Data Architect will be part of the Electric Boat Corporation Enterprise Technical Architecture team and be included in broader IT application architecture governance

Responsibilities

  • Design the vision, data blueprints and frameworks to ensure a comprehensive data architecture
  • Define data modeling and governance standards
  • Translate business needs into technical data requirements and creating a roadmaps for how data will be collected, store, processed and utilized across the enterprise
  • Oversee the integration of disperse data sources and systems
  • Designing ETL (extract, transform, load) or ETL processes to ensure seamless and efficient data flow
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, integrity and compliance
  • Monitor and optimize data system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement new technologies to realize efficiencies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data modelers, developers, analysts, and business partners

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • 5+ years of post graduate experience in system design, data modeling and/or enterprise architecture

Preferred:

  • Proficiency working within a highly regulated industry such as Federal, State, Finance, Health-careor Life Sciences
  • Experience reducing complex topics and distilling them into management level summaries for non-technical audiences
