Job Description At BAE Systems, Space and Mission Systems (SMS) – Tactical Solutions (SMS-TS) we design, fabricate, and test a large portfolio of Electronic Warfare capabilities. We are a cross-functional team of engineers and technologists that challenge one another to deliver life-saving solutions that bring the warfighter home safe. At the Aerospace Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Westminster, CO we fabricate RF products for many defense platforms fulfilling our mission to “Protect those who protect us.”
In this role, you will be the test engineer for the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) responsible for the execution, maintenance, and development of mission-critical RF testing of the antenna suite aboard the AMRAAM. You will participate in developing software and integrating testing hardware to create tests that evaluate antenna performance. You will develop software tools to analyze and monitor testing performance during production. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving test anomalies and developing countermeasures to eliminate recurrence.
The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions, from specialized antennas to electro-optical technologies, to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various military platforms, from aircraft and land vehicles to ships and satellites, and give warfighters the advantage they need to take action, identify targets and defend against evolving threats.
What You’ll Do: - Support or lead the planning, setup, execution, and documentation of existing and new component and system-level test for the AMRAAM antenna platform.
- Develop and maintain test procedures ensuring they are aligned with customer and engineering requirements.
- Execute test procedures and ensure adherence to high standards of safety, quality, and configuration control.
- Analyze test data, document test anomalies, lead or support root cause investigations, and make decisions on disposition of in-process hardware.
- Collaborate with RF engineering, manufacturing, systems, and quality teams to ensure tests align with engineering requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test activities, methodologies, tooling, automation, and data analysis practices.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Demonstrated proficiency or interest in developing expertise across test planning, execution, and post-test analysis using modern software tools.
- Hardware and Software Integration experience.
- Possess good communication skills including interpersonal communication and team communication.
- Proficiency in Object-oriented programming.
#LI-AD2A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field and 2+ years of professional test development and integration experience is preferred.
- The ideal candidate would be familiar with or excited to learn:
- MATLAB and Python (or other related programming languages).
- Revision control (git, GitLab, etc.).
- Databases and data structure (SQL, relational, document, etc.).
- NI Test Software Tools (LabView).
- Keysight Network Analyzers.
- RF measurements.
- VSWR.
- Gain.
- Insertion Loss.
- Phase noise.
- S-Parameters.
- Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA, Gage R&R, etc.).
- Product life cycle development: Requirements review, test plan creation, coding, integration of software/hardware.
- Experience with RF test development for production, employing RF Test instrumentation (Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generators, etc.)
- Experience with RF Measurement techniques and ability to diagnose and resolve the root cause of measurement anomalies.
- Takes initiative and has a closure-oriented nature.
- Experience with software version control and bug tracking tools (git, GitLab, etc).
- Experience in supporting factory production test standards, debug, problem isolation, and resolution.
- Experience with hardware/software interface debug & troubleshooting.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921
