Position Summary
Our site is on a journey to build a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role is an opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience leading improvement projects, working closely with frontline teams, and developing the skills needed to grow into future operations and leadership roles. The Continuous Improvement Engineer is a key contributor to the organization’s Operational Excellence (OpEx) strategy. This role applies Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and improve process capability across manufacturing and business operations. The CI Engineer partners with cross‑functional teams to map value streams, analyze performance data, and design sustainable improvements that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Acting as both a practitioner and a coach, this role builds organizational capability by mentoring teams in Lean principles, DMAIC, and daily management disciplines. The OpEx Engineer also supports 6S deployment and drives a culture of continuous improvement at all levels.
This role is 100% onsite at our Salt Lake City manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities using data analytics, process mapping, and root‑cause analysis to address systemic performance gaps.
- Serve as project leader, team member, or coach depending on the initiative, ensuring alignment with site and enterprise OpEx roadmaps.
- Implement and monitor improved processes to ensure capability, stability, and adherence to standard work.
- Support and advance 6S programs, visual management, and workplace organization to strengthen safety and operational discipline.
- Contribute to special projects and cross‑functional initiatives that enhance operational maturity and business performance.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, engage, and motivate teams toward CI goals.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or related discipline required.
- Lean training strongly recommended; Green Belt certification preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience in continuous improvement, operations, or related fields.
Work Environment
- Work includes time spent analyzing data, preparing reports, and collaborating with frontline teams to identify and implement improvements.
- Work occurs in both clean‑room and office environments.
- May require extended periods of standing or sitting depending on project needs.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
