Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Production Engineering (PE)-Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) Battery Cell Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer (Battery Production Engineering) to joinourRyohinJoken(Conditions for GoodProcessandProduct)advancementandproblem-solvinggroup.

Reporting to Engineering Manager the person in this role will support the PE-BME BatteryCell Department'smissiontodeliver engineering solutionsfor rapidcompetitivenessimprovements throughsafetyfirst,people development, and customer focus.

The primary responsibility of this role is leadingplanningandproblem-solving effortsinpre-productiontrialactivity.Utilizing andimprovingsystems&procedures for efficient and effective issueidentification,rootcauseanalysis,issue resolution,andreoccurrenceprevention/ kaizentosubsequentactivityandprojects.

This role willalso contribute to the success of developingorganization’scapabilitiesthroughadvancementand application ofRyohinJokenknowledge and skill.

What you’ll be doing

  • Member of cross-functionalteam collaborating withequipment

  • Engage and resolvematerial, product, and processissues both internal and external

  • Createandimplementworking/trialplans for confirmation of problem-solving activities

  • Createdetailedtechnical and summary reports for organizational learning and development

  • Input to process and equipment plan/specificationfor kaizen and issue reoccurrence prevention

  • Useandadvancementofsystems andprocedurefor problem solvingand learningcapture

  • Individualactivity management, status visualization/reporting, and incremental reflection

  • Participate ininternal & external partner relationships aligning to teamobjectives,development, andsupport

  • Activity related toPE-BME Department-level Hoshin for organizational advancement

  • Individualsupportforstandardization and kaizen (continuous improvement) of department systems and processes

  • Driveownindividualdevelopment,seek feedback, and monitor progress

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Chemical Engineering or similar technical field) or5+ years of equivalent professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience inmanufacturingproduction preparation roleandschedule/deliverablemanagementincludingstages ofproject plan,process/equipmentplan,specification & procurement,installationandtrial (2years required)

  • Experience in battery cell product, processes/equipment, and/or trial activities (1+ year required)

  • Experience inactivity ofRyohinJokenidentification,application, and/or confirmation (Ryohin Joken means Conditions for GoodProcessandProduct)

  • Experience coordinating with varied functionsinlarge corporate organizations, including production engineering, manufacturing, research and development,or similar, and reporting out tosenior leadershiplevel

  • Experience ininterpreting and applying product/process specifications, drawings, etc.

  • Ability for weekend, holiday, and shutdown work, overtime up to 25%, and travel (domestic and international) up to 15%

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience inapplicationof Toyota Production System (TPS)

  • Experience in product x process/equipment simultaneous engineering for new model

  • Documented problem-solving certification or completed activity such as Toyota Business Practice (TBP),Fault Tree Analysis,or similar

  • Experience in manufacturing plant production operations role

  • Experience in data analytics toolsand methods

  • Experience in digital engineering software tools and procedures, including the ability to read,interpretandmodifymodel data

  • Japanese languageproficiencyincluding verbal and written
