Employee will be assigned to the Division of Water and Waste Management (DWWM), Permitting Section, NPDES permit team. Under supervision of a licensed professional engineer, this position performs work at the full performance level on a variety of engineering services or creative works.
Duties:Employee will review the associated facility history, self-monitoring reports, inspection reports, effluent guidelines and conduct field reviews and meet and correspond with the applicants as necessary.
Will prepare WV/NPDES permits for public notice and issuance.
Employee will review and process waste load allocations by modeling the impact of oxygen depleting pollutants from discharge to receiving streams. Duties involve some field work to review the construction and operation of waste-water treatment facilities.
Employee will have regular contact with the applicant, permittees, other agency personnel, and the public.
Will initiate administrative enforcement action for violations and appear before the state environmental quality board and courts, if necessary, to testify on behalf of the state.
Expectations:
Employee must have good written and verbal skills and the ability to deal and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of applicants and the public.
Must be committed to the goals of the work in the water pollution control field.
Must be eligible to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle or provide other acceptable means of conducting business travel. Position may require overnight travel.
Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.
Qualifying applicants will be required to complete an internet-based profile assessment to compare the applicant's thinking and reasoning skills, behavioral traits and the occupational interests against the traits determined to be important to the posted position.
The recommended candidate will be subject to a search of his or her Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) prior to being hired and annually thereafter.
