ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS!This position will function as the Highway Design Group Chief with significant discretion and authority for the full range of professional and administrative actions of the Central Region Highway Design Section. You will be responsible for directing, planning, and supervising the execution of Highway design activities required for federally funded Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and the State funded Transportation Program projects. You will also ensure that the work products for the section are on time and within budget.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located at the Central Region Headquarters building by Lake Hood, the world's busiest seaplane base. You will have a private office with a beautiful view of the Chugach Mountains. Lake Hood is surrounded by a walking/biking trail where employees can be spotted during lunch break.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an individual with the following desired core competencies that will contribute to their success in this position:
Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and six years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), of which three years were in a supervisory or project manager capacity as an Engineer/Architect 2 or higher or the equivalent.
Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this agreement must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Positions in this class require registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position.
