A leading provider supporting mission-critical data center construction projects is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to oversee energy isolation and safety procedures during construction, commissioning, and startup activities. This is a critical, high-visibility role focused on preventing accidental energization and ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment in complex, high-risk environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures across all energy sources (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
  • Verify and approve energy isolation points prior to any work on energized systems
  • Conduct pre-task safety reviews and hazard assessments for construction and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure proper de-energization, grounding, and system safety
  • Perform routine audits and inspections of LOTO practices, devices, and documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of energy isolations, permits, and system clearances
  • Act as the sole authority for system re-energization once work is completed and validated
  • Intervene and stop unsafe work immediately related to energy hazards
  • Train and mentor site personnel on energy control procedures and best practices
  • Support incident investigations involving energy-related events
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data center construction, industrial commissioning, or high-voltage environments
  • Strong expertise in LOTO programs and energy isolation procedures
  • Working knowledge of data center power infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, and switchgear
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and P&IDs
  • Proven ability to work independently and make critical safety decisions in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on documentation and compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety certification
  • Prior experience as an Energy Marshal, LOTO Coordinator, or Electrical Safety Supervisor
  • Experience on hyperscale or mission-critical data center projects
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes (Levels 3–5) and integrated systems testing
