Position: Energy Efficiency Project Engineer II/Energy Engineer
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey (Hybrid)
Responsibilities
Conduct facility ASHRAE Level II and III audits for schools, hospitals, multifamily buildings, universities, municipalities, and other commercial properties.
Perform facility utility analysis, energy benchmarking, energy balancing, and energy savings calculations.
Review and develop calculations and assumptions used to estimate or measure energy savings.
Produce technical reports that summarize project scope, methodologies, assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
Conduct on-site data collection and deploy metering equipment to support energy analysis and validate equipment performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or related discipline).
3–6 years of experience with energy auditing (ASHRAE Level I–III), energy analysis, energy modeling, technical report writing, or engineering analysis.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, energy systems, building science, and high-performance design.
Hands-on field experience with mechanical and energy systems is a strong plus.
Familiarity with energy modeling tools such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, Trane TRACE, or similar software.
Proficiency with spreadsheet-based energy calculations and custom analysis tools.
Experience developing ECM recommendations and quantifying savings for technologies such as HVAC, motors, lighting, controls, refrigeration, building envelope, and appliances.
Knowledge of energy codes and standards including ASHRAE and IECC.
Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Licenses, certifications and accreditations are a plus (e.g., Professional Engineer, Engineer in Training, Certified Energy Manager, Building Energy Modeling Professional).
