General Information & Responsibilities
Black Hawk College seeks a temporary (two-term) full-time EMS Instructor for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters to teach classes in EMT/Paramedic program. This is an in-person position at our Quad Cities Campus in Moline, IL that will include supervising clinical rotations. Starting 8/17/26 ahead of Fall Semester.
Description of Duties
Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develops, and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance; develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.
Education & Experience
Associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education required-Bachelor’s degree in EMS, healthcare, education, or a related field is preferred (and would make candidate eligible to applyas Program Director).-Must hold a current Illinois healthcare license or certification appropriate to the instructional assignment (e.g., EMT, AdvancedEMT, Paramedic, Pre-hospital Registered Nurse, or other relevant healthcare credential) and remain in good standing with theIllinois Department of Public Health.-Minimum of two (2) years of experience in pre-hospital emergency medical services is required.-Must possess teaching or instructional experience sufficient to deliver course content, facilitate skills training, and evaluatestudent performance.-Must obtain Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) EMS Lead Instructor licensure within one (1) year of employment;completion of the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Level I Instructor Course may be used to meet eligibilityrequirements for Illinois EMS Lead Instructor licensure.-Must possess effective oral English proficiency sufficient for classroom instruction and student interaction.

Full-time faculty have a base contract of 9 months and are paid over 12 months per year. Base load is based on 30
equated hours per academic year. Starting salary is commensurate with education and experience.
