Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has a responsibility to respond quickly and efficiently in the event of a crisis, disaster, or other public emergency. Hamilton County EMS maintains a call system to store contact information and mobilize staff in the event of an emergency. All Hamilton County EMS employees are responsible for ensuring their contact information is current and they are accessible should an emergency need arise. During a public emergency, all staff are required to respond should a call to mobilize be made. Please note, during a public emergency, work hours for any and all Hamilton County EMS employees are subject to modification to meet the needs of the community.Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative and case management duties in support of the EMS Overdose Prevention Team (OPT). Additionally, this position manages a small caseload of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and recovery participants, providing ongoing case management services and appropriate supervision.

not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.)Establishes contact with new program patients/clients; coordinating referrals and applications for both short- and long-term addiction treatment programs; verifying eligibility; conducting assessments; and managing the intake process.
Provides first point of contact for those applying to the Recovery Court program and coordinates eligibility clearance and assessments. Corresponds with attorneys and judges and is responsible for entering participants into the Recovery Court program. Maintains communication with family members and designated others if necessary.
Performs general clerical duties; maintaining a referral spreadsheet tracking referral through intake process, completing intake information in database, and maintains correspondence with OPT staff and supervision, as well as appropriate treatment center staff.
Attends specialized trainings on assessments, best practices, peer support, and addiction treatment standards. Participates in community outreach events; educating the community about the OPT and the available MAT programs. Participates in outreach efforts for eligible participants.
Manages and oversees a caseload of clients referred to the Overdose Prevention Team and MAT programs; compiles information, develops comprehensive reports identifying elements of the patients/clients level of addiction and individual needs. Monitors and tracks program participants to make certain that they are meeting the terms and conditions of their MAT pathway and the programs goals and objectives. Conducts bi-weekly or monthly case management sessions to monitor progress.
Verifies and addresses through linking with applicable resources any special concerns or needs of program participants including, but not limited to, transportation issues, child care issues, scheduling difficulties, etc.
Attends and participates in any assigned meetings, briefings, or seminars as required for this position.
Must be able to assist out in the field when required in support of the OPT crews, in home patient/client evaluation if required, etc.

Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.A Master’s degree in Social Services, Public or Community Health, or Public Administration. A valid driver's license is required.
ORA Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Public or Community Health, or Public Administration with minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience in the substance use disorder or a closely related field, at least one (1) year of which must be in case management. A valid driver's license is required.
ORAn Associate’s degree in Social Services, Public or Community Health, or Public Administration, with minimum of four (4) years of direct work experience in the substance use disorder or a closely related field, at least one (1) year of which must be in case management. A valid driver's license is required.
ORThe equivalent of a high school diploma and six (6) years of direct work experience in case in the substance use disorder or a closely related field, at least one (1) year of which must be in case management. A valid driver's license is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires some additional EMS training to include CPR, Bleeding Control, Basic First Aid, and other training as assigned.
This position is deemed essential/situational during inclement weather situations and must report to or remain at work, even when administrative closings are announced, as determined by the Department Head.
Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
SAFETY SENSITIVE:This position has been identified as “safety sensitive” under the definition of 49 CFR Part 40-Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Policy. This position willbe subject to drug and alcohol testing for the following: 1) post offer pre-employment 2) when there is reasonable cause 3) after an on-the-job accident or contributing to an accident 4) on a random basis 5) prior to return to duty after suspension and/or 6) as follow-up. This is additional and also subject to the Rules and Regulations of The Employee Handbook.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Possess a current Addiction Counseling Professional (ACP), Crisis Intervention Specialist (CCISM), or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credentialing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work requires managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment including extensive computer data entry and processing; bending, stooping, walking and/or standing for extended periods of time, and carrying of equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds. Work may also involve the potential for physical harm in dealing with unpredictable substance abuse clients, and potential exposure to infectious diseases.
