Carver County is seeking a dedicated and people-centered Employment Counselor to join our Workforce Services team. Underthe direction of the Workforce Services Supervisor, the Employment Counselor delivers a range of services to customers and employers, including employment assistance, employer engagement, skill development, training, career assessment and planning, and case management services. These services are designed to help individuals to prepare for, secure and retain suitable employment, while supporting employers in finding and keeping qualified employees. The Employment Counselor works with the unemployed or underemployed in assessing attitudes, interests and work skills; determining program eligibility; develops employment plans for clients; conducts employment skills development workshops; and provides career guidance and counseling to program participants. Employment Counselor builds employer relationships through outreach, networking and employer partnerships, focusing on job development and creates opportunities for hiring qualified team members.
Upon successful completion of the probationary period this position is eligible for partial remote work.• Assesses, evaluates and develops employment plans for clients to assist the unemployed or underemployed eligible client in preparing for, searching and retaining suitable employment.
• Performs various employment, training, and vocational counseling case management responsibilities for program participants.
• Provides various job training functions and responsibilities; conducts public relation activities, or assists with special projects, as required.

• Minimum of 2 years previous experience working in human services, vocational rehabilitation services, employment and education, personnel or related area.
• Valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of written exercise, oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation, including 604 verification.
