Employment Attorney (Full-Time, Part-Time, Remote, Hybrid, Of Counsel Options Available)

Houk Law Firm is a Phoenix‑based employment and contract law firm representing employees, employers, and executives in sophisticated workplace and business disputes. Our practice focuses heavily on employment law, discrimination, hostile work environment, non‑compete and non‑solicitation disputes, breach of contract, executive agreements, and separation matters.

We are seeking an Employment Attorney to join our firm. This is not a volume-driven litigation shop. We are open to creative arrangements for the right attorney. While the firm is currently founder‑led, we are open to the right attorney who is interested in a long‑term leadership or partnership path, as well as candidates seeking a senior, autonomous role without immediate equity.

Practice Areas

  • Employment law (employee, employer, and executive representation)
  • Non‑compete, non‑solicitation, and restrictive covenant matters
  • Breach of contract and executive compensation disputes
  • Severance, separation, and workplace investigations
  • Pre‑litigation counseling, negotiation, mediation, and litigation

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage employment and contract matters from intake through resolution
  • Draft and analyze employment agreements, executive contracts, and restrictive covenants
  • Prepare demand letters, pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Lead settlement negotiations and mediations
  • Appear in court as appropriate
  • Advise clients strategically on risk, compliance, and dispute resolution
  • Contribute to firm growth, mentorship, and practice development (level dependent)

Qualifications

  • Arizona Bar admission required
  • Significant civil litigation experience required
  • Employment law, restrictive covenant, or contract litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong writing, analytical, and client‑facing skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with firm leadership
  • Backgrounds representing employees, employers, executives, or a mix are all welcome

Compensation & Structure

  • Compensation commensurate with experience and role
  • Performance‑based bonus opportunities
  • Partnership or long‑term leadership opportunities available for the right candidate (not required)

Why Houk Law Firm

  • Sophisticated employment and contract work without large‑firm bureaucracy
  • Founder‑led firm open to growth and evolution
  • Direct client relationships and meaningful responsibility
  • Collegial, professional environment with flexibility and trust
