Electro-Mechanical Technician 1 (Electrical/Mechanical Technician 1)

Location: St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, 14700 Terminal Blvd #221, Clearwater, FL 33762

Work Schedule: This position is expected to work from Sunday to Thursday nights, 9:00 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. This shift does come at 10% shift differential.

Performs full-performance work as an Electro-Mechanical Technician 1 with a strong emphasis on the installation, repair, and maintenance of heavy mechanical equipment and systems, while supporting related electrical components. Applies advanced mechanical knowledge, along with working knowledge of electrical, welding, and plumbing trades, to diagnose issues and improve equipment performance at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair heavy mechanical equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot conveyors, and hydraulic components
  • Conduct preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance
  • Support basic electrical troubleshooting tied to mechanical systems

What Would You Do?

  • Repairs and adjusts mechanical and hydraulic systems on passenger loading bridges, baggage belt systems, and other Airport equipment and systems.
  • Installs, modifies, fabricates, repairs, and maintains a broad range of electrical and/or heavy mechanical equipment and systems for one or more highly advanced electrical/mechanical assignment locations for St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
  • Performs inspections and operational efficiency checks, conducting preventive maintenance primarily on mechanical systems, including machinery, facilities, and conveyor/transport equipment, while supporting related electrical components.
  • Disconnects, repairs, and reconnects, and/or replaces electric motors and may install electric wiring, conduit, and circuitry and repair switch gear equipment.
  • Replaces or repairs electronics in panels.
  • Maintains records of services and maintenance.
  • Maintains cleanliness of conveyor systems.
  • Performs minor work in any of the following: metal working, welding and machining, painting, HVAC equipment, property and building maintenance, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

What Do You Need To Have?

  • Completion of a two-year technical or vocational program in mechanical skilled or electrical trades in the assigned electrical/mechanical field; or
  • Two (2) years of journeyman experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy mechanical equipment and machinery in the assigned electrical/mechanical field; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) driving report
  • Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position.
