Electro-Mechanic – Plastic Packaging
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (Onsite)
Pay: $36.34 – $39.85/hour + $2.00 shift differential
Job Description:
- I’m working with a global leader in packaging to hire an Electro Mechanic for their Elk Grove Village facility.
- This is a night-shift, hands-on role focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing high speed manufacturing equipment. The position blends both electrical and mechanical responsibilities, supporting production uptime in a safety-first, high-performance environment.
The Position:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems on production equipment
- Diagnose faults across PLCs, motor controls, and automated machinery
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Maintain and repair motors, relays, contactors, and associated components
- Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities
- Maintain critical plant systems including chillers, compressors, and process pumps
- Operate workshop equipment such as mills, lathes, and band saws
- Use CMMS to log maintenance work, parts usage, and repairs
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards including lockout/tagout (LOTO)
Shift Pattern:
- 12-hour continental shift (5:45 PM – 6:15 AM)
- 3 days one week, 4 days the next
- Off every other weekend
- Overtime available
What They’re Looking For:
- Industrial manufacturing or military maintenance experience – MUST
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills – MUST
- PLC troubleshooting experience and knowledge of motor controls – MUST
- Experience with blown film, extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination, or slitting equipment – PREFERRED
- Ability to read electrical schematics and use diagnostic tools – MUST
- Comfortable working independently on night shift – MUST
- Forklift experience – NICE TO HAVE
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a hands-on environment
