Electrician I (#012082) Perry Correctional Institution, Pelzer (GREENVILLE) Level 3

• Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventative maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom and high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators and equipment.

• Plans electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.

• Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.

• Requisitions materials and parts needed.

• Ensures completion of installation/repairs.

• Makes emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.

• Performs on-the-job training of inmates.

• Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field to include: HVAC, plumbing and general maintenance.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and five (5) years' experience in the construction or repair of institutional electrical systems.
