Associate’s Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in electrical maintenance and repair or closely related field; supplemented by four (4) years responsible experience in electrical maintenance and repair or closely related technical experience.
Must be able to acquire journeyman’s level electrical certification within two years of employment in the position.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and must be able to acquire a class B CDL license within 90 days of employment in the position.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.Skill in inspecting machinery and mechanical equipment and to detect and identify apparatus malfunctions.
Considerable knowledge of all functions relevant to the operation of electrical facilities and equipment.
Ability to operate various hand held tools, and electrical diagnostic and repair equipment, e.g., voltmeters, amp-meters, circuit tracer, rotation meters, power-factor meters, welders, drills.
Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
Considerable knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing electric repair and maintenance of utilities equipment and machinery.
Ability to provide electrical plans oversight and recommend/develop modifications as necessary to ensure overall project compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
Ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files.
Ability to access, operate, and maintain various software applications.
Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
Ability to withstand exposure to dust, mold, fiberglass and various chemicals.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to push and/or pull over 50 pounds.
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, and work near moving mechanical parts.
