Location: Irvine, CA
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months
Pay Range: $35.07/hr. to $38.15/hr. on W2 | $44.29/hr. to $49.60/hr. on C2C
Domain: Automotive / Electric Vehicles (EV) & Battery Systems
Application Deadline: June 15, 2026
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Primary (Must-Have):
7 to 9+ years of experience working as an Electrical or Electronics Technician, preferably within the automotive, aerospace, or electric vehicle (EV) sectors
Hands-on experience setting up, configuring, and executing electrical and functional tests for low-voltage/high-voltage electronic assemblies
Direct technical familiarity with Battery Management Systems (BMS) architectures, cell monitoring configurations, or zonal controllers/power distribution modules
Strong hardware validation support background, including debugging circuitry, isolating electrical faults, and parsing hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or bench test results
Proficiency in operating standard laboratory test equipment: digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, programmable DC power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition (DAQ) units
Secondary (Good to Have):
Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics, wire harness blueprints, and technical component specifications
Practical experience building, modifying, and repairing prototype wire harnesses, including precision soldering, crimping, and pin-out debugging
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, or Ethernet) and associated analysis tools (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer)
Strong documentation discipline to track test configurations, log behavioral anomalies, and compile clear run-sheets for engineering teams
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Technician specializing in Zonals and Battery Management Systems (BMS) to support high-fidelity hardware validation onsite in Irvine, CA. This hands-on role is focused on the physical setup, continuous execution, and rigorous monitoring of electrical test cycles for next-generation vehicle architectures. Working closely with validation engineers, you will bridge the gap between abstract test plans and live bench execution—ensuring that prototype controllers, power distribution zones, and battery electronics perform reliably under exhaustive electrical stress tests.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Build, configure, and maintain dedicated laboratory test benches and instrumentation setups for zonal controllers and BMS hardware modules.
Execute structured electrical test cases, including over-voltage, short-circuit, signal integrity, and environmental/thermal stress sequences based on engineering test profiles.
Instrument test properties with data logging sensors, capturing voltage, current, and temperature telemetry using DAQ systems and digital multi-meters.
Isolate, troubleshoot, and diagnose hardware failures, component defects, or erratic signal behavior down to the root board or wire level during validation loops.
Support hardware design and engineering teams by performing precision re-work on prototype printed circuit boards (PCBs) and making real-time wire harness modifications.
Maintain clean, auditable records of test logs, hardware revision histories, and equipment calibrations to ensure complete traceability for regulatory and quality audits.
