Job Description: Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Transformer Manufacturing)


Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our transformer manufacturing facility in Mexico. You will be responsible for ensuring the maximum availability and reliability of specialized production equipment, including vacuum drying systems, core cutting machines, coil winding machines, and high-voltage testing laboratories. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in industrial electricity with a proactive approach to Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, ensuring that our plant operates at peak efficiency while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical distribution systems within the plant.
  • Specialized Equipment: Diagnose and repair faults in PLC-controlled machinery (Siemens/Allen-Bradley/others), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Predictive Programs: Implement and manage predictive maintenance techniques such as thermography, vibration analysis, and oil analysis for plant infrastructure
  • Compliance: Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with Mexican Official Standards (NOM-001-SEDE and NOM-029-STPS)
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and implement root cause analysis (RCA) to reduce recurring downtime
  • Contractor Management: Supervise external vendors and contractors during major overhauls or new equipment installations
  • Inventory: Manage the inventory of critical electrical spare parts to minimize "Mean Time to Repair" (MTTR)


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in maintenance within a heavy manufacturing environment (transformer or automotive industry preferred)


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and P&IDs
  • Experience with Substations and high-voltage safety protocols
  • Experience with loading studies, power planning, and electrical distribution equipment
  • Familiarity with electrical construction
  • Soft Skills: Leadership, problem solving under pressure, and excellent communication skills
