Job Description:


We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer II to support large-scale, dispatchable power generation projects, including combustion turbine facilities. This role will function as a project engineer, providing electrical engineering expertise across engineering design and construction phases. The engineer will be responsible for technical reviews, responding to requests for information (RFIs), managing non-conformance items, and ensuring construction execution aligns with approved designs and specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support for large, dispatchable generation projects, including facilities currently in construction and design.
  • Review and evaluate EPC contractor submittals, drawings, studies, and technical analyses for compliance with project requirements and master specifications.
  • Prepare, review, and resolve RFIs, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and design clarifications.
  • Identify and communicate variances to project specifications and coordinate internal approval processes.
  • Support construction activities by providing on-site electrical engineering guidance, troubleshooting design conflicts, and assisting field teams.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved design documents and contractual scope.
  • Collaborate closely with project engineers, project managers, construction managers, inspectors, and project controls teams (cost and scheduling).
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including operations, environmental teams, siting and land rights, supply chain, and other technical disciplines.
  • Interface with external stakeholders such as EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of engineering decisions, RFIs, and technical issues.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Hybrid work model with a combination of remote work, office work, and on-site support at active construction sites.
  • Expected on-site presence of 2–3 days per week during construction; up to 4–5 days per week when on per diem assignments.
  • Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with overtime available (but not mandatory) during construction activities.
  • Travel is required to project sites; mileage and travel expenses are reimbursable per policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 9+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience supporting dispatchable generation projects, including engineering design or construction.
  • Demonstrated experience working with RFIs, NCRs, and contract scope management.
  • Strong knowledge of interpreting electrical design drawings and ensuring construction compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a large, matrixed, cross-functional team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work on-site at project locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting utility-scale power generation projects, particularly large-frame combustion turbines.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with intent to obtain PE.
  • Familiarity with EPC contractor environments and large capital construction projects.

Technical Skills

  • Experience or familiarity with engineering and project collaboration tools such as:
  • ProjectWise
  • Bluebeam
  • Procore
  • Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • SAP (preferred but not required)
