Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Design Engineer switchboard role based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and power distribution solutions for both permanent and temporary installations, including transformers and related equipment. Daily tasks include creating drawings and schematics, performing load calculations, selecting components, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety standards. The role involves collaborating with project managers, field technicians, and customers to gather requirements, review specifications, and support installation, testing, and troubleshooting activities. The Electrical Design Engineer will also prepare technical documentation, support cost estimates, and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Electrical Design and Electrical Engineering, with experience creating detailed schematics and layouts.
  • Applied knowledge of Design Engineering principles for power systems, switchboards, UL 891, equipment selection, and integration.
  • Solid understanding of Electricity and Power Distribution, including load calculations, protection, and grounding.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL 891 and EUSERC) and basic safety practices.
  • Experience using electrical CAD or design software (such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Ability to work with mechnical engineering team, procurement and production to finish projects on-time.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Prior experience in switchboard and switchgears is necessary.
  • Prior experience with transformers, temporary power setups, or industrial/commercial power systems is a plus.
