Overview

We are seeking anEEG Technician (EEG Tech),sometimes referred to as anElectroencephalogram Technician,Neurodiagnostic Technicianor EEG Tech in ourElectrocardiologyDepartment. The EEG Tech willdiagnoseneurological conditions by preparing patients, conducting EEG tests, and monitoring brain activity. They work closely with physicians toidentifyabnormalities, ensure patient safety, and support critical care throughaccuratetesting and equipment maintenance.

This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRNas needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Prepare patients forElectroencephalogram(EEG)procedures by explaining the process, taking medical history, and ensuring comfort
  • Apply electrodes using the 10–20 system andmonitorequipment foraccuratesignal capture
  • Conduct EEG recordings including routine, sleep-deprived, ICU, and intraoperative monitoring
  • Identifyand document abnormalities such as seizure activity or unusual brain wave patterns
  • Assistduring long-term or emergency monitoring for neurological events or brain death evaluations
  • Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues
  • Collaborate with physicians to support diagnoses of epilepsy, brain injuries, tumors, and othermedicalconditions
  • Ensure patient safety by monitoring during procedures and responding to seizures or emergencies

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.

2. Completion of educational program for EEG technicians preferred.

3. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

4. 2 yrs experience as an EEG technician preferred

5. Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic technology from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs preferred

6. Certification from the American Board of Registered Electroencephalographic Technologies (ABRET) preferred
