ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking a skilled EDP Office Automation Specialist I/II to support Behavioral Wellness (BWell) security and infrastructure operations. This role is responsible for managing enterprise IT systems, including physical and virtual servers, SAN, VMware environments, and departmental databases, ensuring reliability, performance, backups, upgrades, and timely issue resolution.
The EDP Office Automation Specialist I/II administers Active Directory (accounts, groups, permissions, OU, and GPO), enforces security policies, conducts audits, and maintains system integrity. This position also provides advanced technical support, serves as an escalation point for complex issues, and supports end users through training and technical assistance.
Working collaboratively with BWell staff, county departments, vendors, and partner agencies, the EDP Office Automation Specialist I/II supports the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of infrastructure and business applications, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Under general direction, provides specialized technical support for departmental systems, assists in developing policies and procedures, evaluates emerging technologies, and performs related duties as required. This is a flexibly staffed position at the I or II level, depending on qualifications and departmental needs.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
Knowledge of: needs assessment and analysis techniques; installation and testing methods for various software products and hardware on a large network (about 500 devices); general concepts of computer technology and administration and related software; modern server hardware and software including (but not limited to) Operating, Microsoft Office products, Outlook Active Directory; networks (EtherNet); computer communications and protocols (IP); systems analysis methodology; principles of office automation systems; office procedures including business and accounting practices and equipment; training techniques; Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) including installation, maintenance, and training; and specific applications of hardware and software for LAN/WAN systems.
Depending on assignment, certain positions in this classification may require additional knowledge of: database design, implementation, and problem resolution; and client/server applications.
Ability to: provide analysis and recommendations for application, problem resolution, and user assistance to user departments for personal computer hardware and software; consult with vendors and departments that require computer equipment; plan work, set deadlines, and communicate effectively as needed to direct special projects; train and instruct others in microcomputer use; reason with abstract concepts; gather, organize and analyze information; develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors and user departments; communicate effectively in oral and written formats; organize the work of self and others; and respond effectively under pressure

The County Health Department (CHD)requires all employees working in direct contact with patients or clients in a high-risk environment to comply with the PHD Employee Immunizations policy.
