Strategy

The Executive Director is responsible for developing and managing the implementation of the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure Industry strategy in the Americas region.

Business

The Executive Director is responsible for leading the growth and competitive positioning of Power, Utilities & Infrastructure in the Americas region. The Industry Banker will bring coverage and product execution capabilities in order to focus on strategic deals (Corporate Finance and Capital Markets).

  • Act as part of a global management team interacting with all key geographies and products
  • Drive the Industries Group agenda including working with client segments and Product Partners to identify and target transaction opportunities in the region
  • Take a leadership origination and execution role on strategic transactions
  • Working on a senior basis on important transactions as a senior resource to ensure 'world class' execution
  • Oversee deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management to ensure the firm chooses business consistent with its Strategy and policies
  • Report to seniors about important business developments, risk issues and other relevant issues
  • Plan with the teams how to best organize and drive business success and target client penetration
  • Develop and maintain strong industry contacts and knowledge

People and Talent

  • Responsible for reviewing team structure/capacity plans
  • Recruit new talent including both senior and junior players
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Encourage a performance driven culture

Risk Management

  • Provide appropriate guidance to the team to ensure portfolio standards are being met
  • Engage Risk and Legal & Compliance as appropriate to escalate items relating to Risk Management

Governance

  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the team's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
  • Ensure that the firm's insider dealing policies as well as other compliance issues are understood and followed by Bankers

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Qualification

  • At least 15 years of experience in the banking industry and 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • In-depth technical skills in investment banking coverage and M&A skills
  • Prior experience in a top-tier investment bank with a track record in Structured Debt, Project Finance, M&A, Capital Markets, Financial Markets and Structured Trade transactions
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Industry within scope of responsibility
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral with internal and external clients
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance obligations Strong work ethics, detail orientation and a passion for excellence

Expected annual base pay range for the role is $236, 000 - $295,000 .The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
