Position Overview
We are seeking a Digital Solutions & Platform Architect to serve as the primary technical and process visionary for our eCommerce ecosystem. This is a business-centric architectural role responsible for the "Digital Value Chain" that connects our customers to our parts.
You will orchestrate the flow of commerce across a headless environment consisting of Spryker (Commerce Engine), Syndigo (PIM), and a modernized Vin Catalogue, ensuring seamless real-time integration with our Dealer Management Systems (CDK, Procede, SAP, Karmak). Your goal is to ensure that complex B2B business processes — from fleet procurement to core charge returns — are automated, scalable, and resilient.
As the architect of this platform, you own both the backend integration contracts and the frontend architecture standards — including TypeScript-based component design, SSR/SSG rendering strategy, and frontend observability — ensuring the headless storefront deployed on Azure is a first-class architectural concern, not an afterthought.
Responsibilities
Strategic Business & Process Orchestration
- Value Stream Mapping: Architect the end-to-end digital journey for Wholesale and Fleet customers, ensuring data flows correctly across all 5 specialized product PODs.
- Business Process Connectivity: Lead the design of complex B2B logic, including contract pricing, part supersessions, and credit-limit orchestration between the storefront and the DMS.
- Transaction Reliability (Saga Patterns): Design distributed transaction strategies to ensure system-wide data integrity. If a transaction fails in one system (e.g., the DMS), you ensure the ecosystem (e.g., Spryker) handles the rollback or recovery automatically.
- Heterogeneous DMS Integration: Own the integration strategy across CDK, Procede, SAP, and Karmak — spanning both real-time API orchestration and batch/EDI data exchange patterns, accounting for each system's distinct integration profile.
Platform Governance & Leadership
- Headless Ecosystem Oversight: Own the API-first roadmap, ensuring the custom TypeScript UI layer remains decoupled from the backend for maximum agility and team autonomy.
- Azure Cloud Platform Ownership: Govern the Azure-hosted infrastructure for the frontend and integration layer — including App Services, Azure Front Door, CDN configuration, Azure API Management, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines. Champion cloud cost governance and platform reliability.
- Modernization Strategy: Direct the Strangler Pattern migration of legacy parts logic into modern, high-performance microservices, with AI-assisted tooling used to accelerate refactoring and automated test coverage.
- Cross-POD Synchronization: Act as the Grand Orchestrator to manage technical dependencies between the Storefront, Core Commerce, and Fleet teams.
- End-to-End Observability: Define and own the observability strategy across the full platform — distributed tracing from the storefront through Spryker to DMS, alerting, incident response runbooks, and SLA governance.
Commerce Platform & Integration
- eCommerce Mastery: Deep conceptual and practical understanding of Spryker or similar platforms — Glue API, Zed, State Machines, and the Spryker B2B Suite.
- PIM Orchestration (Syndigo): Lead the data mapping strategy from Syndigo to the storefront, including content syndication channels, product enrichment pipelines, catalog taxonomy governance, and ensuring million-row catalogs remain searchable and technically accurate. Ownership of the PIM-to-search index pipeline underpinning storefront filtering and discovery.
- Integration Expertise: Proven track record integrating eCommerce platforms with ERP or DMS environments, including both real-time API and batch/EDI exchange patterns.
- Modern Stack: Expert knowledge of API-first design, Microservices, and Event-Driven Architecture.
- Data & Integration: Deep experience with Middleware/iPaaS logic and relational/NoSQL database design.
- Security: Solid understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and secure B2B data exchange.
Cloud Platform (Azure)
- Azure Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Azure App Services, Static Web Apps, Azure Front Door, CDN, and Azure API Management for gateway-layer orchestration.
- DevOps & Delivery: Proficiency with Azure DevOps pipelines for frontend and backend CI/CD, including build optimization, release gating, and environment promotion strategies.
- Cloud Governance: Experience with cloud cost management, resource tagging, and reliability engineering (SLOs, auto-scaling, blue/green deployments) on Azure.
Frontend Architecture (TypeScript / Headless)
- TypeScript-First UI Architecture: Expert-level TypeScript in a React/Next.js environment, including strict type systems, type-safe API consumption from headless commerce and PIM endpoints, shared schema contracts between frontend and backend, and enforcing TypeScript standards across squads.
- Headless Storefront Patterns: Experience building decoupled storefronts that consume commerce/PIM APIs — SSR/SSG rendering strategy, content composition, and multi-channel delivery.
- Modern UI Frameworks: Hands-on experience with React (preferred) and common ecosystem tooling (Next.js, component libraries, design systems) and scalable front-end architecture patterns.
- Performance & Observability: Strong knowledge of Core Web Vitals, caching strategies, and front-end monitoring/telemetry for troubleshooting at scale.
- Build Tooling & Delivery: Familiarity with modern build tooling, package management, linting/formatting, and CI/CD pipelines for front-end delivery.

Desired Skills
- 8+ years in Digital Architecture, Solutions Engineering, or a comparable hands-on technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience owning a headless commerce architecture end-to-end — from PIM data modeling through API design to frontend delivery.
- Experience in the commercial vehicle, automotive, or heavy-duty parts industry is a significant plus.
- Proven ability to lead Core + Flex (Employee/Contractor) blended teams and set quality standards across both.
- A Product Mindset — you see the platform as a business solution, not just a set of technical requirements.
