Echo Ultrasound Tech – Cardiac Sonographer

Join our team as an Echo Ultrasound Tech / Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Technologist and operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures, and produce diagnostic-quality cardiac images for interpretation by the healthcare team.


Minimum Requirements:

  • ARDMS-RDS, ARDMS-RDMS, or CCI cardiac sonography certification required. BLS required.
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care echo experience, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Comfortable performing pediatric echocardiograms. This is a hard requirement.
  • Experience with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), stress echocardiography, and contrast/bubble studies preferred; list these as preferred to be clear.
  • Experience assisting with procedures such as pericardiocentesis and performing accurate EF measurements required.
  • Experience with Philips and GE ultrasound platforms and familiarity with Philips/Intellispace PACS preferred.
  • Ability to produce preliminary, modifiable reports for physician review.
  • Willingness to participate in department on-call rotation and occasional night call shifts as required by the unit.
  • Ability to support large structural program cases including pre/post Cath, CABG, TAVR, Watchman, and PFO evaluations.
  • Candidate may be asked to orient new hires; prior orientation or preceptor experience preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Facility type: Hospital (Noninvasive Cardiology unit).
  • Shift: Days, 0800–1800, 4x10 schedule.
  • Shift pattern: 10-hour day shifts; schedule set in 6-week increments with modified self-schedule. Manager approves final schedule.
  • On-call: Yes. Approximately one night call shift per week with end of shift (EOS) until 0700 the following morning. Call-backs require cardiologist approval.
  • Weekend rotation: Not required at this time.
  • Orientation: New employee orientation plus remainder of first week on unit; buddy call during orientation.
  • Float requirement: None.
  • Unit volume: Echo department manages high volume, approximately 40–60 patients per day across 2 echo suites and 2 TEE rooms, plus bedside inpatient studies.

Standard Job Description:

Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations, maintain ultrasound equipment, prepare patients, and produce images and preliminary reports for physician interpretation. Provide care for pediatric and adult patients across inpatient, outpatient, ER, and procedural settings. Collaborate with cardiologists, central transport, rapid response and code teams as required. Use the facility EMR and Philips/Intellispace PACS for image review and documentation.
