Echo Ultrasound Tech – Cardiac Sonographer

Join our team as an Echo Ultrasound Tech / Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Technologist and use your expertise to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, compassionately prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures, and produce detailed images of the heart for interpretation by healthcare teams.


Minimum Requirements:

  • ARDMS (RDMS/RDCS/RDMS-Cardiac) or CCI cardiovascular certification required. ARDMS RDS or RDCS / CCI (RCS) acceptable.
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care echocardiography experience required. Experience in high-volume hospital echo departments preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Comfortable performing pediatric scans. This is a hard requirement.
  • Experience with transthoracic echo (TTE), transesophageal echo (TEE), bubble studies, stress echos, and periprocedural imaging for Cath, TAVR, CABG, Watchman, and other structural procedures preferred. Fetal scan and stress test experience preferred; submit for manager approval if missing.
  • Ability to assist with procedures such as pericardiocentesis and to measure and report accurate ejection fractions.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR and Philips/GE cardiovascular PACS or similar image systems preferred.
  • Willingness to perform preliminary findings in a modifiable report for physician review.
  • Two years of experience is required for consideration; first-time travelers accepted per client preference.
  • Preferred: comfort orienting new hires. This is not required but preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Facility Type: Hospital (Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital; Chest Pain and Stroke Center)
  • Shift Name: Days
  • Shift Details: Days 0800-1800 (10-hour days noted as 0800-1830 in facility notes; primary shift 0800-1800)
  • Schedule Cycle: Modified self-schedule; schedule made in 6-week increments. Manager final approval of requests.
  • Standard Hours Per Week: 40
  • Census: Department volume approximately 40–60 patients per day across 2 echo suites and 2 TEE rooms; inpatient and outpatient workload.
  • On Call: Yes. Typically 1 night call shift per week with end of shift until 0700 next morning. Callbacks require cardiologist approval. Call on major holidays only; department open on holiday eves with potential on-call expectations up to 50% of holidays per contract.
  • Weekend Rotation: Not required at this time.
  • Orientation: NEOR for facility and unit. Remainder of first week dedicated to orientation with buddy calls during orientation.
  • Floating: None required.
  • Unit Support: Echo tech team, cardiologists, central transport, rapid response/code team.
  • Technology/Equipment: EPIC EMR; Philips and GE cardiovascular PACS and ultrasound systems.
  • Other: Scrub color black. Free parking. Approval of return-to-office/time off up to 7 days.
