Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking an experienced litigation attorney for engagement through the firm’s alternative-track contract attorney and staffing program, DWTSurge. The selected contract attorney will work on secondment to one of the Firm’s premier technology clients supporting commercial litigation matters. Attorneys must be located in the Bay Area. Attorneys must hold active bar admission in California.


The selected attorney will be dedicated exclusively to the client secondment and will be responsible for managing complex litigation for multiple client products and businesses. Candidates with experience handling consumer class actions litigation are preferred.


Attorneys should be highly organized with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple matters with competing deadlines. Attorneys should be able to work independently and exercise good judgement while also collaborating with lawyers and business professionals to meet the client’s objectives.


This contract position requires on-site work in the client’s Bay Area office for full-time hours. Hours may fluctuate week to week depending on the availability of appropriate work and the needs of the client. The initial contract term for this secondment is a six month period, though there is a possibility of an extension or renewal of the contract for the successful candidate, although any extension or renewal is not guaranteed. We are looking for attorneys interested in establishing an alternative-track working relationship with the firm on an exclusive basis.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of litigation experience in an in-house setting or with a large law firm.
  • Residency and active bar admission in California.
  • Demonstrated experience managing all phases of consumer class action litigation, including trial and/or arbitration experience.
  • A strong interest in working with global technology clients.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and methods of client data management and communication as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow work directions, make discretionary decisions, manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to work on-site in the client’s Bay Area office and full-time hours for the duration of the secondment.
  • Flexibility for anticipated hours to fluctuate as needed.
  • Excellent proactive communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing, with clients, firm members, and other business contacts.
  • Exceptional client service skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner.
  • Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail and strong time and task management skills, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.

Compensation will be paid on a monthly salary basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role is eligible for benefits. Salary Range

The monthly compensation range for this position in CA for a 6-month contract is commensurate with an annual salary of $204,000-240,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
