Drug Manufacturing Technician (Chemical Operator)

The Drug Manufacturing Technician operates and maintains drug manufacturing equipment, prepares and blends raw materials and active ingredients, and completes all batch documentation in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This entry-level role suits individuals with a high school diploma or GED who can follow detailed procedures, work safely, and contribute to the consistent production of high-quality pharmaceutical products.

Responsibilities

• Operate drug manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
• Accurately weigh raw materials and active ingredients and combine them into precise blends.
• Perform mixing, batch mixing, batch making, compounding, blending, and chemical processing activities as assigned.
• Maintain equipment and production areas in a clean, orderly, and well-repaired condition.
• Participate in the completion of work orders, including accurate batch record documentation in line with cGMP requirements.
• Follow written procedures and manufacturing instructions exactly, with minimal errors or deviations.
• Complete required cGMP and safety training in a timely manner and apply this knowledge in daily work.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules and quality standards.
• Identify and promptly report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or documentation discrepancies.
• Support continuous adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards throughout the facility.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Capability to accurately weigh and measure raw materials and active ingredients.
• Basic understanding of or exposure to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Ability to complete documentation clearly, accurately, and with minimal errors or corrections.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
• Comfort with performing mixing, batch mixing, batch making, compounding, blending, and related chemical process tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety.

• Experience as a chemical operator or batch mixer is beneficial.
• Previous experience in a GMP, pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing environment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with batch record documentation and work order completion is helpful.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to support equipment operation and routine care.
• Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and documentation systems through on-the-job and formal training.

Work Environment

The role is based in a regulated manufacturing facility that follows current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Work involves operating and monitoring mixing, batching, compounding, and blending equipment, as well as handling raw materials and active ingredients in a production setting. The environment requires strict adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, with regular equipment cleaning and maintenance to keep the facility in good repair. Employees typically work full-time schedules, with eligibility for overtime paid at time and a half for hours over 40. Appropriate protective clothing and safety gear are used as required by cGMP and safety procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Des Plaines, IL.

The pay range for this position is $22.40 - $22.40/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Des Plaines,IL.
