JOB SUMMARY:
The Drafting Checker will be responsible for checking a drawing’s accuracy and overall quality, based on
engineering design, in-house drafting standards, manufacturing capabilities, customer specifications, as well
as industry-specific codes and standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for final checking of fabrication and submittal drawings prepared by detailers prior to releasing for production.
2. Check drawings for congruence with engineering design, in-house drafting standards, manufacturing capabilities, customer specifications, as well as industry-specific codes and standards.
3. Review customer-provided plans and discuss any discrepancies with the appropriate team member(s).
4. Follow the checking process and ensure corrections are made and provide guidance to drafters to help reduce errors in the future.
5. Review areas of concern from the Drafting Department with engineering and drafting supervision to help develop new procedures and improvements for the department.
6. Complete drawings on time per project requirements.
7. Work closely with cross-functional team members.
8. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
3-year minimum work experience as a steel detailer /structural drafter
3-year minimum drawing checker.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in steel /structural detailing-drafting.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor and /or other computer-aided design software.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Able to conceptualize assemblies and how subassemblies and parts come together.
Knowledge of AWS weld symbols.
Knowledge of AISC standards.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to work well with other team members.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Work is typically performed in an office work environment.
Limited physical effort required.
