Job Title: Drafter / Designer

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Drafter/Designer to support a variety of engineering projects, with a primary focus on gas utility design. In this role, you’ll leverage your AutoCAD expertise and project management skills to produce accurate designs, ensure regulatory compliance, and support projects from concept through completion. This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure work while collaborating with a dynamic engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret, and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and standards to support project design and problem-solving.
  • Develop and update drawings using AutoCAD and other applicable computer applications.
  • Assist with gas engineering and utility design projects from initial planning through execution.
  • Manage design tasks for gas utility projects using sound project management principles.
  • Ensure all engineering designs comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Prepare and maintain drawings, permits, easements, and other required documentation.
  • Document and track project details within computerized systems.
  • Monitor and address items in Hold, In-Service, and Supplemental Reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete required Learning Management System (LMS) training by assigned deadlines.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, practices, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Submit timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain flexibility to work overtime and travel locally as project needs require.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in drafting and design principles.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience using AutoCAD.
  • At least 1 year of experience working on horizontal infrastructure projects such as pipelines, utilities, or telecommunications.
  • Working knowledge of construction, engineering design, and CAD practices.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a motivated, positive, and professional attitude.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Work Environment

This position is based out of our Pittsburgh downtown office, where you’ll collaborate closely with fellow drafters, designers, and engineers in a team-oriented setting. The role offers hybrid flexibility, with in-office presence required 2–3 days per week, allowing for both collaboration and focused remote work. The downtown location provides a vibrant, professional environment with easy access to city amenities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $36.00/hr.
