Day ShiftDescription:Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Medical Radiation Dosimetrist to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators. The ideal candidate is responsible for producing external beam and prostate seed implant treatment plans for patients either by use of isodose charts or treatment planning computer while adhering to policies and procedures. Calculates dosage for interstitial or intracavitary implants using radionuclides. Assists in periodic calibrations of therapy machines. Assumes responsibilities under the direction of the Sr Medical Physicist.
What you will do:
Consults with Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist to determine objectives of each patient’s treatment plan. Performs accurate medical and computer dose calculations, generating dose distributions that deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the prescribed tumor volume.
Coordinates treatment simulation and tumor localizations. Obtains accurate patient measurements for dose calculations.
Instructs Radiation Therapists in dosimetry by explaining and demonstrating techniques, methods, equipment operation and reviews with these individuals the treatment plan, ensuring accurate interpretations of treatment parameters and accurate delivery of prescribed dose.
Oversees the implementation of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges and other devices used to ensure delivery of accurate daily treatments.
Assists Medical Physicist in periodic calibration procedures of therapy equipment.
Assists Medical Physicist in the ongoing monitoring of patient treatment charts for compliance with treatment plans and documents activities in patient records as necessary.
Assists in intracavitry and interstitial sealed source procedures and performs the manual or computer calculations of the dose distributions resulting from these procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A.S. degree in Radiation Therapy required, B.S. degree candidates are preferable.
Experience: Two years as a Dosimetrist preferred.
Certification: (CMD) and/or board eligible within six months.
