Clinical Coordinator / Instructor Requirements & Qualifications


  • Associate degree or higher (must match or exceed degree level conferred to graduates)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field
  • Valid, current credentials specific to the sonography concentration(s) being coordinated
  • Documented experience in clinical supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theories/techniques (through coursework, seminars, or in-service)
  • Ability to travel to clinical sites as needed and work some evening/weekend hours


Clinical Coordinator / Instructor Preferred Background & Skills


  • Proficiency with clinical management systems such as Trajecsys and learning management platforms (Moodle/LMS)
  • Superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Creative and adaptable teaching methods to reach diverse learners
  • Strong problem-solving skills and independent work ethic
  • Experience managing multiple clinical sites and student schedules


Clinical Coordinator / Instructor Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Coordinate clinical education with didactic curriculum to ensure effective student learning
  • Evaluate and maintain relationships with clinical sites, including regular site visits and communication
  • Provide clinical instruction and evaluate student progression toward clinical competence
  • Schedule and coordinate student clinical rotations, maintaining accurate documentation of competencies, hours, and evaluations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the program and clinical site personnel
  • Advise and support students regarding academics, professionalism, and clinical performance
  • Participate in curriculum meetings, accreditation processes, and professional development activities
