About the Role:Are you interested in helping modernize and improve the performance of an electric distribution system? This role plays a key part in advancing KUB’s efforts to modernize the design and operation of the electric distribution system. The position focuses on supporting System Operations through the use of advanced grid technologies, real-time tools, and continuous process improvement. Working closely with System Operators, this role helps enhance day-to-day operations including outage response, switching, and system restoration. The position also serves as a subject matter expert for technologies such as ADMS, SCADA, DER, FLISR, and AMI, using system data to improve reliability and efficiency. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role partners with IT, engineering, and construction teams to implement and optimize new tools and systems. It translates operational needs into technical requirements and supports the successful roll-out of new technologies. A strong emphasis is placed on improving and standardizing processes, as well as supporting change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption across teams. This position also serves as a liaison across departments, contributing to cross-functional coordination and continuous improvement initiatives. The role includes supporting System Operations during storm response and other critical events.
Physical Requirements:
Works primarily in an office setting, but field visits and field activities may be required. These field visits may include: emergency response activities and support beyond normal business hours, heavy lifting or strenuous work and mobility over rough terrain. Requires bending, stooping, lifting, and working in awkward and strenuous positions at times. Occasionally requires above normal mental and visual alertness. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and/or exceed those demands described above.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited four-year college or university
Three (3) to five (5) years of demonstrated experience in related field
Advanced analytical and project management skills
Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and team skills
Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a timely manner
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment
Valid driver’s license

Preferred Requirements:
Professional Engineer license in State of Tennessee or ability to obtain Professional Engineer license in the State of Tennessee through comity
Three (3+) or more years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with an electric utility
Thorough understanding of power system engineering concepts such as power flow, voltage regulation, power factor and technical losses, device coordination during normal and alternate system configurations
Experience with utility operational technologies such as SCADA, OMS, ADMS, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of DER integration, demand response, and smart grid technologies.
