JOB SUMMARYThe Ready-Mix Dispatcher is responsible for the efficient scheduling and real-time tracking of concrete deliveries to maximize fleet utilization and ensure superior customer service. This role serves as the primary link between customers, sales representatives, and mixer drivers. The objective is to optimize "cubic yards per driver hour" while maintaining a steadfast commitment to Martin Marietta's "Safety First" culture and operational ethics.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Accurately enter customer orders into the central dispatch system verifying mix designs, slump requirements, and delivery windows.
- Run current and future delivery schedules, evaluating the fleet's capacity to handle requested yardage and scheduling business up to 90 days in advance.
- Perform basic accounting tasks, including processing C.O.D. payments, verifying tax numbers (MPC), and quoting prices within established company guidelines.
- Monitor the "GPS status board" to track trucks during loading, transit, and unloading phases.
- Adjust delivery schedules dynamically to account for job site delays, plant downtime, or mechanical emergencies, transferring assets between plants as needed.
- Generate delivery tickets and provide drivers with accurate navigational assistance to complex job sites to minimize "time in drum."
- Answer 100+ daily calls to resolve disputes, confirm pour progress, or adjust order volumes.
- Maintain constant radio/phone contact with Mixer Drivers, Production Coordinators, and Sales Representatives regarding mix design changes or plant issues.
- Coordinate with the shop and maintenance teams to schedule plant repairs or identify trucks with mechanical issues for immediate service.
- Ensure all operations comply with DOT (Hours of Service), OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Participate in mandatory safety meetings and proactively communicate safety hazards to drivers and customers.
- Maintain meticulous records of unusual job site situations or delivery disputes to facilitate future reference and resolution.
