THE OPPORTUNITY

A well-established 150-bed acute care hospital in Montana — part of a national healthcare delivery network — is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to serve as Perioperative Services Nurse Director. This is a newly created position with the scope to shape and scale a high-performing surgical program. You will lead a team of approximately 90 FTEs across a 6-OR suite, overseeing both surgical and perioperative managers, and driving excellence across more than 7,400 combined OR and Endoscopy cases annually.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

As Director, you own the full strategic and operational direction of Surgical Services — setting the standard for patient care delivery, department culture, and performance. Core responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement departmental goals aligned to clinical, administrative, and ethical standards
  • Direct operations including patient care delivery, service levels, and quality outcomes
  • Lead two direct reports (Surgery Manager and Perioperative Manager)
  • Oversee staffing: hiring, orientation, performance evaluation, and development
  • Prepare, monitor, and steward departmental budgets
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and compliance activities
  • Champion rapid and effective process improvement initiatives
  • Serve as a patient advocate, mentor, and clinical leader


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Montana RN License (or eligible)
  • BSN required; MSN, MHA, or MBA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of Surgical Services RN experience
  • Manager or Director-level leadership experience
  • BLS upon hire; PALS & ACLS within 6 months of hire
