Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Manufacturing Operations to join the Data, Power, and Control Team in Reno, NV.
The Director of Manufacturing Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across manufacturing functions and our contract manufacturers within the North American region. This role is accountable for ensuring manufacturing operations meet organizational objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and compliance. The role works closely with internal teams and external partners to support scalable, reliable manufacturing operations.
Main Job Duties:
- Lead and oversee North American manufacturing operations, including production, quality assurance, and equipment maintenance.
- Develop and implement regional operational strategies aligned with corporate goals for efficiency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Apply established continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to improve productivity, reduce waste, and improve yield.
- Manage internal production capacity and oversee Contract Manufacturer (CM) capacity planning to align with forecasted demand, cost targets, and delivery requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate CM performance to ensure external partners meet quality, safety, compliance, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Management to support manufacturability, reliability, and adherence to applicable standards.
- Establish, review, and communicate key performance indicators related to output, cycle time, scrap, on-time delivery, and overall operational performance.
- Provide coaching and development to manufacturing leaders, supporting consistent application of processes and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
- Oversee operational budgets, capital planning, and cost management initiatives.
- Support customer audits, technical reviews, and operational escalations as needed.
- Lead quote reviews and contract discussions with suppliers and partners to support long-term operational objectives.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency typically gained through 7–10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing environments.
- Experience leading manufacturing teams or functions, typically 5 years or more in a management or leadership role.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Navigates and influences effectively within a matrixed organization, building cross‑functional alignment and driving coordinated execution across operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Strong technical understanding of PCB assembly, SMT processes, testing methodologies, and either high-mix/low-volume or high-volume production environments.
- Proven experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in scaling manufacturing operations and supporting new product introduction (NPI).
- Experience managing external manufacturing partners, including capacity planning, performance oversight, and compliance management.
- Strong business acumen to evaluate financial impacts, optimize cost structures, and guide data driven decisions that enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience working within QMS, ISO, Reporting, IPC and other electronics manufacturing standards.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven operational management tools. SAP, Agile, Power BI a plus.
- Exposure to automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
- This position requires up to 25% - 50% of travel. Some travel international.
