About the Opportunity
A well-established manufacturer in the medical device industry is seeking a Director of Manufacturing to lead operations at one of its production facilities. This role will oversee manufacturing, maintenance, and machine shop functions while driving operational excellence across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and inventory.
The Director of Manufacturing will serve as a key member of the site leadership team and partner closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and planning to ensure efficient and compliant manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve targets related to safety, quality, service, cost, and inventory.
- Oversee production, maintenance, and machine shop activities within the facility.
- Collaborate with purchasing, planning, engineering, and quality teams to ensure seamless production flow and resource utilization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Implement and support Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with cGMP and other regulatory standards.
- Provide input into monthly forecasts for labor, spending, and operational performance.
- Partner with engineering and quality teams to ensure adherence to specifications and production documentation.
- Evaluate and implement improved manufacturing methods, workflows, and facility layouts.
- Analyze staffing levels, space utilization, and equipment configurations to optimize production flow.
- Provide operational insights to senior leadership regarding production timelines, labor needs, and cost projections.
- Mentor and develop supervisors and team leaders through coaching, feedback, and professional development.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Coach and develop manufacturing personnel.
- Plan, schedule, and review departmental work activities.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning.
- Manage disciplinary actions and compensation decisions within scope.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing teams and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, 5S, and visual management systems.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in FDA-regulated or ISO-certified manufacturing environments.
Pay: $160,000.00 - $242,000.00 per year
